Fringe Day 212: Kicking Off the Madness at The Comedy Cellar

AND SO IT BEGINS... Edinburgh Fringe 2025!

And so it begins. Getting ready. First show tomorrow.

Technically, it’s my 8th Fringe, depending on how you count it.

Since January 1st, I’ve been gigging 7 nights a week – that’s 212 days straight onstage.

So if you ask me, this isn’t the start of the Fringe. This is just Fringe Day 212.

Officially, tomorrow kicks off the madness. My 16th Edinburgh Fringe. And I’m still not used to it.

No matter how many times you do this festival, it never gets easier. The pressure, the logistics, the emotional ups and downs. You’re giving everything for 25 days straight. There’s no pace – just sprinting from day one and hoping you don’t break.

The thing about the Fringe is, it’s lawless. Anything can happen.

One day you’ll play to a packed house and get a one-star review from someone who hates your face. The next day, you’ll do the same show, same room, same jokes – and you’ll walk out with a four-star write-up and a reviewer begging to interview you. You’re always just one performance away from a breakout show… or a breakdown.

I’ll be keeping a daily blog – a Fringe diary, really. Think of it as a raw dispatch from the frontline. Expect chaos, contradictions, confessions, and hopefully not too many cancellations.

Behind the scenes, there’s the other show – managing comedians. Egos. Meltdowns. People running over their slot and throwing the whole night off. Then there’s the crowd. Are they tourists? Are they hammered? Are they here for the comedy or just hiding from the rain?

You don’t know until they’re sitting in front of you… and even then, you’re still guessing.

Every year I wonder: Will I get cancelled this year?

Will I finally win something?

Will this be the year I finally crack it – or crack up?

Either way, I’m here for it. This is what I do. This is what I love.. this is the Comedy Cellar.

Now, on to the shows...

I’m technically doing two shows this year… but let’s be honest, I’m too cheap to pay for two separate ads, and I don’t have the energy to run two different hours. So here’s what’s happening:

I’ll be doing my solo show – Generational Trauma on these dates:July 31st, August 1st, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 25th8:15pm – 9:15pmVenue: The Canons’ Gait (Lower) – PBH’s Free Fringe

Outside of those nights, I’ll be running The Comedy Cellar — MCing comedians, dodging disasters, and dragging myself through until the 25th. And when the Fringe ends? The club starts again. No rest for the funny.

Oh, and about those 212 days straight onstage...I thought maybe I was pushing for some kind of record. Then I looked it up. Turns out the world record is 1,001 nights in a row.

Fuck that!

Anyway Due to PBH ethos We can't Sell tickes as normal but you can show support below. please bare in mind its first come first served — Fringe shows below. RSVP if you're coming. Bring your mates. Let’s see what survives.
